Challenge: Half of the residential garage doors in Australia are continuous sheet steel rolling doors. Guardian has supplied a rolling door opener to Australian door OEMs for over twelve years. Meeting demands brought on by changing market conditions and low stand-by power consumption regulations provided some unique challenges.

Solution: In order to provide features like soft-start and stop and battery back-up a conversion from AC to a DC motor was necessary. Electronic limits and dynamic force monitoring were added for safety and convenience, as well as LED lighting and power monitoring to meet sub-1 W requirements. A redesigned manual clutch, low side-room profile and IP43 dust and water protection were included in an updated mechanical design.
