Guardian Acquires Garageio

El Segundo, CA, March 12, 2018--Guardian Access & Door Hardware announced today that it has acquired Ohio-based Alottazs Labs LLC, creator of Garageio.  Garageio enables users to securely control and monitor their garage door through a smart phone app, without replacing their existing garage door opener.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a statement, Guardian Managing Director Andrew Liu said, “This acquisition supports Guardian’s commitment to our vision, the garage door and operator industry and our customer base.  It will help us accelerate the development of IoT solutions to complement our line of garage door openers, providing more differentiation, flexibility and value for our customers.”

“Alottazs Labs with Garageio, has developed and marketed an award-winning controller that works well, and has more flexibility than competitors, integrating with IFTTT and Amazon Echo.  Its close relationships with customers and its ability to provide best-in-class service were particularly valued,” said Guardian GM Brian Strzalka.

“Being acquired by Guardian gives us stability and access to resources and infrastructure of a large manufacturer in the global garage door opener industry”, said Alottazs Labs principal Zak Dziczkowski.  “We are excited to join Guardian and continue to have the opportunity to develop market leading products and solutions.”

Alottazs Labs personnel and operations will be integrated with Guardian’s and relocated to the Guardian HQ in El Segundo, CA.

There are 2 systems built into automoblies, HomelInk by Gentex and Car2U by Leer Corp.  Check your vehicle's owner's manual to determine the system.  Homelink can be identified by its "Homelink house" logo.  Guardian operators are compatible with Homelink, but are not compatible with Car2U.
